Resume Template for Product Manager
Outcomes you owned, decisions you made, and what got cut — not a list of features the team shipped.
What hiring managers look for in a Product Manager resume
PM hiring is the most copy-pasted category of CV in tech, and most candidates lose at the first scan by writing 'led roadmap for X product' instead of describing the calls they actually made. Hiring managers screen for three signals: outcome ownership (a metric you moved, not a feature you shipped), prioritisation judgement (something you said no to or killed, with a real reason), and cross-functional leadership (a difficult eng-design-marketing alignment you produced). Bullets that read like 'collaborated with stakeholders' are noise — every PM does that. Bullets that read like 'killed the planned mobile redesign after a one-week user-research sprint showed the existing flow already met the target' read like real product judgement. The fastest screen at senior level: does the CV show what got cut, not just what got shipped?

Common mistakes Product Manager candidates make
Patterns recruiters and hiring managers in this category see repeatedly. Each one is fixable in minutes.
Bullets describe features the team shipped, not outcomes the PM owned.
Fix: Reframe each bullet around the metric that moved (or didn't) and what you decided based on it.
No mention of anything you killed, deprecated, or said no to.
Fix: Surface one. Prioritisation judgement is the single highest-signal PM differentiator.
'Cross-functional collaboration' as a phrase without a concrete example.
Fix: Name the specific alignment: which two teams, what was at stake, how you produced the call.
Mixing IC and lead-level work without surfacing scope (team size, eng count behind the work).
Fix: Name the engineering and design headcount you partnered with. PM scope is read through that number.
Sample Product Manager resume bullets
Each bullet follows the Verb–Action–Result pattern: a strong verb, a specific context (tool, scope, decision), and a measurable outcome. Adapt the numbers and tools to your own work — keep the structure.
Owned the activation funnel for [Product]; raised week-1 retention from 28% to 41% over two quarters through onboarding redesign and three targeted experiments.
Killed a planned native-app rebuild after a 2-week discovery sprint showed mobile-web met 92% of the use case at 14% of the cost.
Led the launch of [Feature] across 9 engineers and 3 designers in 11 weeks; drove $2.4M in attributable ARR in the first quarter.
Authored the team's prioritisation framework now used quarterly across 4 PMs; cut roadmap-debate time roughly in half.
Ran 14 user-research interviews to ground the Q3 strategy; identified two pivot opportunities the leadership team adopted into the company plan.
